Interim manager Calum McFarlane insists that the Blues are motivated to finish the season strongly but Monday’s 3-1 defeat at home to a much-changed Nottingham Forest side suggested otherwise and maximum focus may already be on the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Liverpool also suffered a weekend setback, going down 3-2 away to top-five rivals Manchester United on Sunday, but having trailed 2-0 inside just 14 minutes they did show some spirit.
